What gets asked most often before anybody starts. If something is missing, write to us — this page grows with the questions.

• What does GoodWorkshop cost?

  There are two models and you can switch between them every month: per active member per month, billed by the day, or per workshop created with as many members as you like. All prices are net; GoodWorkshop Cloud is sold to businesses only. The exact amounts are on the pricing page. Run it yourself and it costs nothing.

• Is GoodWorkshop free?

  On your own server, yes — permanently, and for commercial work too. The source is under Apache 2.0 with the Commons Clause: you may use and adapt GoodWorkshop without limit, you just may not resell it as a service of your own. The cloud costs money because somebody there takes on operation, updates and backups. The first fourteen days are free, with no payment details.

• Can I host GoodWorkshop myself?

  Yes, and it is not a side path. It needs one container and a Postgres database; with Docker Compose it is up in minutes. Images are published for amd64 and arm64. No external services, no tracking, no licence keys.

• Where is my data?

  In the cloud, in the EU, operated by roleALPHA GmbH in Austria, with a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Host it yourself and it sits wherever your server does. Either way you can export every agenda as Markdown at any time.

• How does the AI connection work?

  GoodWorkshop is itself an MCP server — Model Context Protocol, the interface AI assistants use to operate tools. You set the connection up once in the settings, and from then on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other clients can create workshops, rewrite agendas, park blocks and move days. The AI works inside your workshop, not in a chat window next to it.

• Can several people work at the same time?

  Yes. Several people edit the same day live without overwriting each other. Clients and co-facilitators without an account get a link — read-only or editing, as you choose.

• What happens when a time changes?

  Nothing you have to redo by hand. Move a block or change a duration and every time after it recalculates. Blocks that must not wander — lunch, the client's slot at 15:00 — you pin to the clock; if something collides with one, the row says so instead of quietly shortening it.

• Can I print or export the agenda?

  Yes, both. There is a print view for the room and a Markdown export for the handout and the documentation. Your facilitation notes stay out of both by default.

• Does it work on a phone?

  Yes, and that is what it is built for. In the room the agenda reads as cards on your phone, and the view survives bad wifi.

• I already use another tool. Can I switch?

  There is no automatic import. The fastest route is the AI connection: give your assistant the existing agenda as text and let it create the workshop in GoodWorkshop. For a single day that is a matter of minutes.
